Support the repeal the Hughes Amendment to the Firearm Owners Protection Act of 1986.

The Hughes amendment to the FOPA banned the sale and transferring of machine guns manufactured after May 19 1986 to civilians. Machine guns were already heavily regulated by the National Firearms Act of 1934 and the Gun Control Act of 1968. By banning the sale of machine guns manufactured after May 19 1986 the cost of existing transferable machine guns became unattainable for all but the wealthiest collectors. There is no evidence to suggest that if repealed crime involving machine guns would rise as they would still be regulated and subject to LEO screening, registration and tax paid to the ATF. Since the NFA was passed in 1934 beginning machine gun regulation there has only been one recorded murder with a lawfully owned and registered machine gun, to this date!
