The second amendment provides the right to bear arms, but what about the right to live in a reasonably safe society? The rate of gun crimes is off the chart here and it's obvious if we had fewer guns it would be a safer place. Other countries with fewer guns but the same cultural influences, such as violent video games, are much safer places to live. The difference between those places and here is unlimited access to devastating firearms. Fewer guns would make us safer and it would make us more free. Free to live without fear of being blown away or having your child blown away. Yet any attempt to limit access to these devastating weapons fails because of the second amendment. It's time for it to go.
