On behalf of rail employees everywhere, I am formally requesting that President Obama reconsider his position NOT supporting a proposed extension to the December 31, 2015 deadline for federally mandated Positive Train Control installation on all U.S. railroads. All major US freight & passenger railroads have already indicated that they will not be ready by the proposed deadline, and will be forced to cease most rail operations. Not only would this be catastrophic to our nation's economy, but it would leave thousands of rail employees out of work until the situation is resolved, causing major financial hardships for these employees & their families.
