CRISPR is a gene therapy technology that edits the human genome with precision and efficiency. We believe that since we have discovered these technologies, we should utilize them to their fullest potential. In order to do this restrictions, on continuing to research gene therapy should be lifted.
The method proven to be the safest and most effective is CRISPR. CRISPR allows us to cure diseases by using the system bacteria uses to fight viruses. When the bacteria detects a virus it makes two types of RNA, which then make a protein called Cas9. The Cas9 protein is used to then cut the bad genetic mutation out of the DNA. Then the DNA tries to repair the section that was cut out, and new healthy base pairs are installed which cures the diseases completely.
