Support rifle and handgun ownership for sportsmen and self defense.

DC should support common sense regulation of firearms while ensuring continued access to rifles and handguns for law-abiding citizens.
-Immediately ban the sale of military grade weapons and high capacity magazines to civilians as they have no legitimate use for hunting or self defense.
-Require background checks for all sales, primary and secondary, to ensure that everyone purchasing a firearm has the appropriate background check.
-Ban online sales of firearms and ammunition. There is no legitimate way to ensure an accurate background check.
-Make gun owners responsible for any crime committed with their weapon. Gun owners may have the right to own the weapon, but they also have the responsibility to ensure the security of the weapon. Stolen weapons should be reported immediately.
