Support the right to bear arms for the good of national defense.

Created by A.C. on January 17, 2013

Some gun control advocates point to Great Britain as an example of how a ban on guns can decrease gun violence. However the United States, since its inception, has decided that its citizens have the right to bear arms, citing the need for a well regulated militia such as the 13,000 militia men used to put down the Whiskey Rebellion. Furthermore, countries such as Switzerland and Israel have high gun ownership, but lower gun deaths per capita than the United States. Gun's are difficult weapons to control as evidenced by the numerous injuries of innocent bystanders by American police.

The United States should require that all able-bodied men who wish to bear arms should join the National Guard of their state. This would ensure we have a well trained and armed militia at all times.
