Support a Tax Deduction for the Adoption of Shelter and Rescue Animals

Created by C.C. on November 20, 2012

Every year, an estimated 5 to 7 million animals are surrendered to shelters or picked up as strays. The average cost per animal paid by the organization or governmental department operating these programs ranges from $50 to $90.

We ask that the Administration vigorously pursue, support, and sign into law, legislation that would allow the adoption costs, fees, and immediate expenses to be claimed as a Federal tax deduction as an additional incentive to support pet adoption of worthy animals and to reduce the financial burden of local governments and organizations associated with animal control.
