Money received by political campaigns would be taxed at 10%. For example, people running for elected office would pay a tax of 10% of money donated to their campaign. The money would be used to pay for PELL grants to allow students to go to college. Money given by the FERC would also be taxed.
During the last election cycle, about $6B was spend on political advertisements. Most people running for elected office support education in the USA. This allows them to put a skin in the game.
There are a couple benefits to this tax. The USA gets PELL grants added to the system. The other benefit is there is slightly less money for candidates to spend on mass mailing, calling, and other adds. Plus it's an incentive for those that are serious and those that are just making a statement
