Politics should not be a career or a job, but rather a duty of men and women who were elected by their people to represent them. Congress today is more about holding power and cooperating with the establishment than it is about representing the interests of the people who elected the congress. Term limits will allow more ordinary people to have a chance to make a difference in their government. Term limits will also diminish the growth of corruption in the government. Thomas Jefferson and George Mason supported term limits of US Congressmen. I recommend a limit of two terms for US Senators, and a limit of three terms for House Representatives. The amount of terms allowed is debatable, but the need for this reform is great.
