The Department of Defense, as well as some research have shown that there is no reason to continue to ban Transsexuals from military service as the research originally done in regards to the treatment of Transsexuals has been proven extremely biased or to have falsified data. In this era, as America takes steps forward in recognizing the rights of the LGB communities, Trans communities continue to largely be left behind in both states rights and federal protection.
Allowing LGB members to openly serve has caused no degradation to the armed forces and military readiness. Let us now extend that same open service to Transsexuals.
I ask that legislation begin to remove the discriminatory bans against the service of Transsexuals in the armed forces.
