Support the United Nations Convention Against Torture and to interpret the treaty as applying both at home and abroad.

Created by J.W. on October 19, 2014

We, as people who know that torture is immoral, wrong, and evil, urge the President to support the United Nations Convention Against Torture. This Convention aims to prevent torture and cruel, inhuman degrading treatment or punishment around the world. The Convention requires states to take effective measures to prevent torture within their borders, and forbids states to transport people to any country where there is reason to believe they will be tortured. By applying the treaty both at home and abroad, the United States will signal that the American people will do their part in combating torture, cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment or punishment around the world.
