Our financial problems are a direct result of a congressional mandate to prefund our retiree health benefits 75 years in advance at a cost of 5.5 billion $ a year. The people who would benefit from this have not been born yet. This is a poison pill created during the last Bush admin. to destroy the USPS. The internet is not killing the USPS. Prefunding and the recession has taken its toll. Union contracts are not the problem as either.
The USPS visits every home in America. They are there for much more than to deliver mail. They are a constant figure to the elderly, infirm and endangerd in thier communitees.
