Veterans utilizing the VA system are forced to utilize the available providers at the closest VA facility, with no choice between who provides them their services or ability to seek a second opinion. Current programs do allow certain veterans to utilize an outside facility, but you must fall outside certain distance from any VA medical center. VA counts their local outpatient facilities the same as their medical centers, so if I live within 30 miles of an outpatient facility, but 100 miles from the main facility, they count that particular clinic as a full blown hospital and intelligible to use outside facilities. People on public assistance have more healthcare options than Veterans. STOP THE JOKE! SUPPORT a VA insurance card so our veterans can use who they CHOOSE!!!!!
