The LGBT community and countless others in the Dominican Republic are proud and honored to have Wally Brewster and his husband Bob Satawake serving our country.
His presence has sparked an enormous amount of conversation about long-ignored human rights issues here. Unfortunately, a vocal minority of ultraconservatives has launched a defamatory campaign against Ambassador Brewster.
Recently, USAID’s support of human rights and the ambassador’s visit to a school to discuss Model UN have been misrepresented. Consequently, a petition demanding the Ambassador leave the country was created. We would like to counter that petition with this one. His presence here is extremely necessary and positive.
