Serious Firearms Safety
We currently regulate the sale and ownership of cars, dogs, and Sudafed more stringently than we do guns. This must change.
Require All Gun Owners:
Pass a written test, a live fire test, and a criminal and mental health background check
Store their weapons in a gun safe or at a range
Maintain a $1m liability insurance policy per gun
Accept criminal and civil liabilty if their guns are used in a crime
Regulate Gun Sales:
Limited to weapons and ammunition deemed safe by the ATF for self defense or sport use
Five per person maximum
Only through licensed retail gun dealers
Prohibited for felons and those with a history of domestic violence or serious mental health issues
Illegal sales or possession should result in a 10 year prison term and a fine of up to $1m
