With our national unemployment at historically high levels, I urge all US citizens (employed and unemployed) to ask their US Senators, Representatives, and even our President to act quickly to stop granting new H1-B (work) and student visas.
As a US citizen born to immigrant parents I believe we should ensure our children can live the American dream before being so naively generous to citizens of other countries. However, as we have seen over the past several years, the large number of H1-B immigrants appearing daily on our soil are creating an excess supply of employees in an already fragile and crowded employment market.
With very few exceptions, the specialized skills argument is completely baseless given most of the H1-B visa recipients are recent graduates from US schools.
