Suspend all salaries, benefits, and transportation costs for ALL govt. officials in the event of a government shutdown.

In the event of a government shutdown, begin furloughs with the highest ranking government officials in every branch of government. Suspend all salaries, benefits, transportation expenses and other perks paid for with tax dollars for every law maker on the federal pay roll. Once that occurs then begin shutting down non-essential government programs and enact furloughs for other workers on federal payroll. As long as a shutdown lasts is how long the penance of government officials should last, beginning on the day the shutdown ends (ex: 5 months of shutdown equals 5 months of no pay and benefits after a budget is passed). THE AMERICAN PEOPLE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO SUFFER FOR MISDEEDS OF A BITTER FEW.
