We demand the Obama Administration immediately suspend the Department of Defense's 1033 program, which provides surplus military equipment to local police agencies for law enforcement. Immediately upon enacting the suspension, the Department of Justice shall conduct an investigation to determine whether the program has led to an erosion of American's civil liberties and/or systematic police abuses. The 1033 program suspension will be lifted only if the Department of Justice investigation concludes that the 1033 program has not contributed to police abuses and/or erosions of civil rights in any way.
