Fracking is the process of fracturing rock by using pressurized liquid in order to access natural gas deposits underground. But because of the Haliburton loophole, the chemicals used during fracking are undisclosed, meaning their effects on the surrounding environment are unknown. Although the purpose of fracking is to extract natural gas in a controlled manner, gas leaks are common and extremely dangerous. Gas leaks contaminate aquifers, making our water toxic. Combined with the use of unknown chemicals that are equally detrimental to our water supply and environment, this means fracking as it is today is an unreglated and unsafe practice. Let's suspend all fracking projects until all loopholes are closed, giving us the information we need to ensure our family's safety and our own.
