Recent findings have shown that Columbus was not the first to discover North America, hence the National Holiday on October 10, 2016 is not justified. We propose that President Obama sign an executive order that acknowledges the great work of historic Italian-Americans on Columbus Day and swaps this Federal Holiday designation to November 8, 2016. This petition is seeking a one time Presidental executive order for the purpose of identifying improvements to the election process by documenting effect of National Holiday (one-time swap) on Election Day 2016.
