Americans should join the rest of the world in using a standard of measurement that makes sense. For too long, we've been forced to memorize and use two sets of measurement systems for different reasons: the arbitrary USA measurements used in everyday life (inches, miles, gallons, etc.), and the metric system (which we use in science calculations before converting it back to USA measurements so it makes sense in our heads).
How much easier would it be for Americans to understand science if metric measurements were something we could relate to? It's time we joined the rest of the world in using the metric system, for both standardization and for education's sake.
