We the people ask the federal government to Change an existing Administration policy:

Switch our voting system to instant runoff so voters can choose third parties without fear of wasting their vote.

Created by M.J. on November 14, 2016

Currently, our voting system is First Past the Post, which is unfair to anyone who isn't part of one of the two major parties, because it reinforces the two party system. Instant runoff would be a system where someone can put their first choice as anyone they want and their vote will still matter. Each voter ranks the candidates in order of approval, and after votes are cast, the candidate with the least first place votes is eliminated, and all votes that had that candidate as their first choice are switched to their second choice. This repeats until only one candidate is left, and will most likely lead to politicians who are beneficial to a majority of people in office. Also: electoral votes should be proportional, based on what percent each candidate got in any given state.
