The United States is one of three countries in the world that has yet to officially mandate the Metric system of weights and measurements. Given a sufficient time table for adopting and implementing the metric system, there would be no disruption for the people of the United States.
The response to the 2012 petition:
"In our voluntary system, it is the consumers who have the power to make this choice. So if you like, “speak” metric at home by setting your digital scales to kilograms and your thermometers to Celsius. Cook in metric with liters and grams and set your GPS to kilometers."
This is unacceptable, a push is needed from the top to remove the imperial system from use. The metric system will improve our youth's education, and in turn their lives. Out with the old.
