Only 12.9 percent of electricity consumed by the US is renewable energy. 67 percent of the energy consumed is created by fossil fuels. These fossil fuels emit CO2 which ends up in the atmosphere, causing climate change. Renewable energy would help prevent this climate change. The workforce can be made up of people who are unemployed, creating more jobs.
