We the people of the United States and veterans of the 1991 Gulf War do petition to the President and Commander in Chief to award by symbolic executive order the rank of five star General of the United States Army to the late H. Norman Schwarzkof in due recognition of the General's brilliant command of American and allied forces during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. The General's leadership prevented the further aggressions of Saddam Hussein after his invasion and occupation of Kuwait in 1990 and led allied forces to a swift and decisive defeat of Iraqi military forces with a campaign that resulted in the loss of few American lives. The General was a true American hero and great military leader and is deserving of this honor on behalf of a greatful nation.
