The metric system is logical, widely accepted, and is a standard in higher academia, science, medicine, and our own government and military. Teaching a unit of measurement that will later be abandoned for high paying jobs in technology, science, and medicine is inefficient. Our priority should lie in graduating students with the least amount of barriers to success.
Flipping the switch from the imperial system to the metric system will require campaigning. The campaign must address the ability to invent and innovate is what ensures America remains globally competitive, militarily strong, and provides better healthcare to its citizens. And, over time, changes would surface in schools, road signs, food labels, and every facet of our lives.
