Table the Safe Campus Act (H.R. 3403) Immediately and Indefinitely

Created by J.W. on November 13, 2015

The Safe Campus Act would make the process of reporting sexual assault on college campuses much tougher for survivors of sexual assault. The premise behind the Safe Campus Act is that students are not getting due process in the college student conduct process; however, Federal Title IX laws stipulates preponderance of the evidence is the standard for which all schools are to abide by in cases of sexual assault and we support this stance. We believe that the safety of students should be the number one priority. If passed, this act would undermine efforts to make college campus environments more supportive of survivors and would take away a survivor's choice to report to law enforcement. This is unacceptable and this Act should be tabled immediately and indefinitely from Congress.
