By using funds currently being used and wasted in Afghanistan, these monies could be used to help flush the bad loans from the housing market. These homes being renovated would provide jobs in the distressed home building industries which would have far reaching economic impact. Then, our disabled vets, to whom we owe much, and their families could have a home customized and suited to their needs.
The economy would improve because people would have new jobs, tax revenues would increase, and we can meet our obligations to those soldiers that risk their lives and well being for the rest of us.
