The FLDS, a polygamist religious group, has many members in important government and business positions in Colorado City. Man non-members, especially those who used to belong to the FLDS, struggle to find employment, and may even be threatened.
Isaac Wyler, a former member who had spoken out against the FLDS Church and their leader Warren Jeffs (Who is currently serving a prison sentence for sexual assault of two underage girls), had a cat buried alive in concrete outside his house. This is believed to have been done by FLDS members, and the FLDS officials who the crime was reported to were dismissive.
