After a flawed election on January 5, 2014, boycotted by the main opposition, the ruling party in power declared itself victorious although no more than 5% of the eligible voters voted. We do admire the current US administration’s position on this election being flawed. Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Govt. is out to destroy the opposition by any means. US based Human Rights Watch report of January 27, 2014 describes such gross human right violations. A total of 394 activists of the opposition became the victims of "extra-judicial" killings only in past three months. At least one-third of the victims belonged to the moderate Islamic forces. The current Bangladesh Govt. must resign to make way for an election acceptable to everyone and immediately stop all extra-judicial killings.
