We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Take action on making dreadlock ban during hiring process illegal, workplaces must act fairly upon each candidate.

Created by G.R. on September 29, 2016

A hairstyle should not determine whether an individual gets hired or not in a workplace. This is a form of discrimination against someone who has this type of hairstyle due to their culture, beliefs, and preference. The goal of this petition is to have workplaces act fairly upon each candidate without taking into account a hairstyle. Dreadlocks are a lifestyle, not a definition of work ethic! The decision made by the U.S. court that dreadlock ban is legal during the hiring process violates one’s first amendment rights! The Obama Administration needs to make the act of banning dreadlocks during the hiring process illegal. This type hairstyle is mostly seen in African American traditions; this can be seen as discrimination against culture. We are in America, isn't it the land of the free?
