Take action on pay day loan scams originating in India

For a number of years now people have been tormented by a number of telephone scams originating out of 4 cities in India. The most pernicious is the pay day loan scam in which the caller identifies themselves typically with a generic Anglo American name then proceeds to threaten the victim with trial, arrest, loss of employment, loss of family in an attempt to extort money from the victim for a fictitious unpaid pay day loan scam. Occasional threats of physical and sexual violence are made in addition to bomb threats. The vast majority of people see through this and call the bluff, but that still doesn't stop these scam artists from harassing victims. This crime ring netted $7,000,000 last year after making over 2 million calls to roughly 700,000 people. Please sign this petition
