Meriam Yahya Ibrahim, the pregnant wife of a US citizen and the mother of a 20 month old toddler (also a US citizen) has been sentenced to death by the Sudanese government for apostacy. She has also been sentenced to be flogged before her execution for adultery since she is married to a non-Muslim and her marriage is therefore not recognized under Islamic law.
Her 20 month old is also in jail since his father is not allowed to care for him because he is a Christian. The father, Daniel Wani, petitioned to bring his wife to the safety of the US in late 2011 but had received no response as of 2013. Here is a news article about the case:
