The health of Seattle, WA's Puget Sound is in danger. Various species ranging from salmon to Orca whales are in danger of extinction due to under regulated actions of industrialization and urbanization. Methods of disposal of harmful wastes are mobilized by pollutant runoff, which contaminates the Sound. Not only are the direct inhabitants of the Sounds' water showing signs of toxicity in their makeups, they serve as an indicator species as to how such pollutants may affect humans in the area as well. High levels of metals, pesticides, PCB's and other contaminants line the streets of the greater Seattle area. Immediate action is necessary to preserve the diverse and unique life which is native to the Puget Sound area.
