Congress has until the end of September to come up with an alternative to the sequester and offer a balanced budget in a way that does impact meals on wheels. Our federal government has chosen to use a machete where they should have used a scalpel to make massive cuts in nutrition programs which have impacted quality of life and threatened the health of our seniors. It costs the same to feed a senior for a year as a 1 day stay in the hospital.
It is a dark day for us all when those seniors who have paved the way for our todays and tomorrows are hardest hit by bipolarity of our Nation's political compass. We ask you to support our demand that congress re-instate funding for the Older Americans Act which provides for nutrition programs and other senior services.
