Rather than raising the debt ceiling [thus allowing our elected officials spend more tax-payer dollars, at their own whim], or cutting government spending, our government officials should take a personal pay cut of no less than 50%, and use the extra money to pay off our nation's debts.
This would affect all elected and appointed officials, regardless of party affiliation, or lack thereof.
