Staff Sgt. Robert Bales, while it is a grossly horrendus crime that does deserve severe punishment, up to life in prison. Staff Sgt. Robert Bales was in a compromising situation enduring 4 tours in a combat deployment. Mental health and post-traumatic stress were probably a major impact on his crime. If we as a country try terrorists who have perpetrated more death, destruction, and fear and sentence them to life and not automatic death for treason or terrorism. Staff Sgt. Bales, for his duty to our country, should at least be granted this. More war crimes than this have gone unpunished in past wars and even though we are more aware with media coverage it doesn't warrant death.
