To take a deep breath before charging into the gun control debate.

Created by A.A. on December 16, 2012

In the time since the school shooting in Connecticut occurred there have been a rash of petitions demanding the government enact stricter gun laws, now I am not demanding the government loosen those laws up, and nor am I promoting stricter gun laws either. What I am asking for is that when you tackle this issue, please do so with cool heads, plenty of research and a massive helping of logic.

Some things to think about:
The overall murder rates in the U.S. have been trending down over the last 20 years. Mass killings while tragic are not indicative of overall crime rates. Fewer guns doesn't necessarily mean fewer mass killings, look up the China school stabbings for example.

If I had more room I would go on and cite my sources and more of them.

Please let cool heads prevail.
