Especially now that Congress has voted (by their inaction) to cut subsidized federal aid, student loans and debt have suddenly become a much larger issue for many families all across the country.
Sen. Warren has the right idea in spearheading new student loan legislation, but she needs help. A push from the White House will not only help her, but will also help the 12 million students and their families struggling with the high prices of university and exorbitant student loan interest.
Higher education is meant to foster the creation of the newest generation of workers and entrepreneurs, who will grow up to sustain the greatness of America. They shouldn't have to spend that time worrying about how to pay off student debt on top of the large burden of responsibility already upon them.
