We the people ask the federal government to Take or explain a position on an issue or policy:

Take Federal Immigration Prison facilities (ICE) out of the hands of private corporations.

Created by R.S. on August 25, 2016

More than 1/3 of detention beds are managed by private, for-profit corporations. The profit incentive causes them to be chronically understaffed with poor oversight of abuse, and low transparency and accountability. Private immigration detention facilities, particularly now that the DOJ has quit using them, will be under pressure to incarcerate even more immigrants and cut costs even more to recover their losses. We must stop using incarcerated human beings as a means of making a profit.
