Take Further Action Against The Ivory Trade in The United States, In Order to Combat Both Extinction and Foreign Terror

Created by T.F. on December 10, 2014

It is our wish that the loophole allowing antique ivory (imported before 1990) products to be sold legally be closed in order to further restrict the import and sale of freshly poached ivory, out of concern for both the well being of the endangered elephants falling victim to this nefarious trade, and the use of ivory profits to fund international terrorist groups such as Boko Haram and al-Shabaab. As a world leader, and also as the 2nd largest market in the world for ivory products, it is the responsibility of the US to take decisive action against a trade that provides up to $600,000 dollars monthly to militant groups behind such high profile crimes as the Westgate Shopping Mall attack in Nairobi and the abduction of nearly 300 schoolgirls in Nigeria.
