Climate change, caused by fossil fuel overuse and its resulting pollution, poses the greatest threat to humanity that the world has ever known. There is no longer any doubt or debate in legitimate scientific circles that 1) CO2 is a greenhouse gas that traps heat in the atmosphere, 2) fossil fuel burning produces CO2, and 3) the effects of excessive CO2 in the atmosphere are already being felt in catastrophic ways. It is utterly disgraceful that the fossil fuel industry has spent so much money to sew confusion and buy US silence and inaction on this crucial issue. For the sake of posterity and human survival, the US must develop and pursue an active plan to severely curtail CO2 emissions. Life and property are at stake, and our silence and refusal to act on this issue is tragic and deadly.
