The Rohingya, a Muslim minority in Burma, have been persecuted, subjugated, and have had their rights and civil liberties stripped away from them for decades by a murderous and despotic military regime. In June 2012, the conflict escalated, leading to the slaughter of thousands, as well as the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Rohingya. The Burmese government, which has long been known for its state-sponsored racism and terrorism; these practices must be forced to stop by the civilized societies of the world. Human Rights Watch has reported mass accounts of murders, rape, and widespread destruction. We demand that the Obama administration condemn this ethnic cleansing.
