In light of the current news out of the scientific community and UN report (http://www.ipcc.ch/report/ar5/wg3/) regarding climate change, it is clear we have reached a pinnacle moment. The damage already done is irreversible. Without swift action now, future effects will only be worse. These effects are not only limited to social equity or the natural world. Instead, we all face enormous national security risks as well, including competition over food, water, and other natural resources, in addition to geographical displacement. And this is - pardon the saying - just the tip of the iceberg.
The consequences for inaction is best summed up by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson: "Earth will be around long after we render ourselves extinct." This is happening now. We cannot wait any longer.
