Climate change is here. All of the science tells us this is an incredible threat. The policies we choose in response will determine how we drive our economy into the 21st century. The values we embrace within those policies will reshape our institutions and our way of life. However, the public debate we’re having isn’t about science, policy, or values. We are debating only Do Something vs. Do Nothing.
This is not a real debate. We cannot afford to endlessly indulge this nihilistic farce. Nor can we brood over our own impotence, cowering in the face of controversy. History tells us that when we face such challenges, we must speak out with the full strength of our convictions. To do less makes us complicit in the tragedy to come.
