Take necessary steps to pass meaningful gun control imposing AT LEAST as much regulation as required to drive a vehicle.

In response the horrible tragedies of mass gun violence that occur so frequently in the U.S, most recently in Newtown, CT, we petition the White House to take necessary action to impose regulations at least as strong as those required for drivers. There are over 85 deaths per day from guns. and the gun death rate is 20 times that of other developed nations, it is time to take action to change these devastating numbers. The 2nd Amendment DOES NOT give citizens the right to bear any type of firearm. See Presser v. Illinois, U.S. v. Miller, and District of Columbia v Heller where Justice Scalia himself stated, "we do not read the Second Amendment to protect the right of citizens to carry arms for any sort of confrontation." We agree and petition for much stronger regulation of firearms.
