The phrase "In God We Trust" is a clear representation of religion. Although many do believe in God, many people also do not. There have been rumors that this phrase has been removed, but it has not. Under the first amendment, (“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.") we as americans, have freedom of religion. This phrase violates the first amendment rights of those who do not believe in God or any other higher-being. This phrase shows no separation of church and state which is supposed to be present at all times. I ask that this phrase be removed from our currency as it violates the first amendment rights of American Citizens who do not believe in a higher being.
