This petition requests that President Obama support the legalization of industrial hemp, and to promote the cultivation of industrial hemp to help preserve natural resources, create new jobs and businesses, and to help the overall economy. Further, we request that in the event of the failure of the 113th Congress to act on legislation in the support of the legal cultivation of industrial hemp, that the President issue an Executive Order to:
1) Remove industrial hemp from Schedule 1 of the Controlled Substances Act
2) Legalize industrial hemp's cultivation, with over-site changing from the DEA to the USDA
3) Create government financial support and economic incentives to promote and assist in the development and cultivation of industrial hemp as a legal farm crop and industrial product
