The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution cites a citizens right to bear arms in order to furnish a "well regulated militia" for "the security of a free state". With the most powerful military in the world, including the Air National Guard and Army National Guard which serve the purpose the militia did in 1787, the original intention of the second amendment is now obsolete and the amendment is misused for intentions far beyond the scope of our founding fathers. The only way to make strides towards a safer domestic state is to abolish recreational gun ownership in the United States.
