I'm asking that Social Security reform be removed from any budget negotiations. It is not an entitlement, but an earned and payed for retirement benefit. If Social Security is cut or changed in ways that hurt retirees, you will find many more Democrats upset with the Administration to the point of not getting out to vote in 2014, just like in 2010, when the President caved to Republicans in adopting a Republican plan for health care. We need as many Democrats voting in 2014 as we did in 2012, but we can't be fighting our President on basic Democratic values and expect us to work hard to get Democrats elected to Congress, which is the main way we can stop the destruction of our democracy by the tea party. He wants us to have his back, but he needs to have ours too. It goes both ways.
